Power the future of low-carbon computing

Village HeatShare is developing a new model for combining renewable energy, data processing and community heat.

We’re looking for data processing partners who can provide compute capacity for our network of small-scale, community-based data centres.

By locating compute close to local renewable generation, we can make productive use of energy that might otherwise be constrained or wasted. At the same time, the heat generated by computing can be captured and used to heat homes, community buildings and businesses.

Your compute could help deliver two valuable outputs from one source of clean energy: digital processing and local heat.

Why partner with Village HeatShare?

Access low-carbon energy
Locate compute where renewable energy is being generated, helping make better use of local clean energy resources.

Turn waste heat into a resource
Instead of rejecting the heat produced by your equipment, Village HeatShare heats homes, reducing fuel poverty.

Support rural innovation
Help demonstrate a new approach to digital infrastructure that creates value for rural communities while supporting the transition to net zero.

Experience
The VHS team has decades of experience setting up and operating co-operative compute facilities such as Ashton old baths

Support data sovereignty

Explore opportunities to keep data processing and compute capacity closer to where it is needed, within UK-based, locally connected infrastructure. Distributed computing can offer an alternative to relying solely on large, centralised facilities, while supporting greater resilience and local control of digital infrastructure.

What are we looking for?

We’re interested in hearing from organisations with data processing and compute requirements that could be suitable for deployment within small-scale data centre environments.

This could include organisations looking for:

  • AI and machine-learning compute
  • High-performance computing
  • Data processing and analytics
  • Rendering and other compute-intensive workloads
  • Flexible or distributed computing capacity
  • Other applications where localised compute could provide value

We’re particularly interested in partners who can help us understand what compute capacity is required, how it could be deployed and what operational requirements need to be considered.

Village HeatShare is currently exploring communities and sites where renewable generation, connectivity, heat demand and local support come together.

Data processing partners will be an important part of testing whether this model can work commercially and technically at different scales.

Could your compute be part of a data centre that gives its energy a second purpose?
